As if Apple didn’t already have enough ammunition against Windows Vista. It’s funny how the system can’t identify it, but knows that it is ready to use.

If this happens to you, here is a tip. Double click the device in Vista’s Device Manager and then click the Details tab up top. You will be presented with a list of information about that device. Select Hardware ID from that list and it will show you a long string of letters and numbers such as this onboard Realtek Lan device- “PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_83A31043&REV_03”. Right click on that and you can Copy it. Paste it into Google or your favorite search engine and you will likely be able to identify what it is and where you can find the working driver for it.
