Unfortunately, TDU lacks force feedback. The only Profiler setting that works on a version 1.66 copy is Degrees of Rotation. If you somehow have an old copy at version 1.45, it will have force feedback, but you won’t be able to play online without updating. So many cars, so little rumble.
Test Drive: Unlimited G27 Settings
- Open the Logitech Profiler
- Select New > Profile
- Add TestDriveUnlimited.exe as a new game.
- Open Specific Game Settings
- Check ‘Report Combined Pedals.’
- Set Degrees of Rotation to Taste
- Leave ‘Use Special Game Settings’ Unchecked
- Play TDU and switch keyboard to G27
- Map the controls to your liking.
- Set Linearity slider to far right under options
- Leave Sensitivity sliders at center
Solid Tip: H-shifter only applies to cars that really have them. Some cars, such as the Mercedes McClaren SLR, only use paddle shifters. Authentic: yes. Convenient: no.
What OS are you testing this under?
I had no trouble getting 900 degrees in TDU under Vista, but in 7 it’s like it doesn’t understand 900 degrees. I mean, I’ve set it up in Windows, and all that jazz, but it takes the full 900 degrees of the wheel to turn what the game thinks is 200 degrees.
Frustrates the crap out of me!
These tests are using Windows 7. The linearity setting is what affects the relationship between turning the Logitech wheel and the wheel of the car in-game. The problem is that the car steering wheels in-game don’t turn all the way around (the game’s designers couldn’t be bothered animating the wheel turning all the way around).
I just loaded the game up and ran some tests. I recommend for the best driving experience – linearity all the way to the right, steering sensitivity in the middle, and Specific Game Settings rotation set to 900.
LurJwu such posts are great
Great guide, very helpful with my new G27. However, why are you reporting combined pedals ? TDU is compatible with separate pedals so why bother ?
Also, my 1.66 seems to have FFB, at least there is some. I will try a 1.45 if i find the exe for (my DVD is patched to 1.66).
Anyway, thanks for your guide.
I was wrong about the FFB, it’s more like spring to center. Could you send me by email your 1.45 ? (even if it’s protected I have the DVD so that’s not an issue, and it’s even better :)).
It’s been a year and a half since I wrote this setup, but I will take a look and send you anything I find. I don’t know that just an exe file alone will do it, though.
Also I noted that TDU2 was only 10 or 15 bucks on Steam yesterday.
TDU does have ffb, but it doesn’t work with the g27 for some reason.
I cannot seem to find out how to make the clutch on my g27 to work its always stuck on with your settings
