ASUS preloaded setting 3.36 GHz
This is the final pre-loaded ASUS profile. However, I found it to be totally unusable. First, note how the RAM is configured on the CPU-Z screenshot. SANDRA scored it at only 12.79 GB/s (50% slowed than the last benchmark). Don’t ask me why. Attempting to overclock to 1600 MHz resulted in a failed Prime95 run, while Sandra reportd 20.2 GB/s.
Secondly, the profile put IMC/VTT voltage at 1.400V, but that is dangerously high (I limited this to 1.200V). I also had to adjust the DRAM voltage back to 1.350V. Finally, note the 90°C temps at 100% load. That is 194° Fahrenheit. No thanks!
Thank you very much, I’ve found this very nice!
great post as usual!
Dude, this is a great article! Thanks for all the hard work. I couldn’t figure out why my temps were so high when I tried to overclock. After turning off hyperthreading it’s like night and day.
Just a question but why does the final screen grab say Intel Core i5?
That’s how Core Temp read the i7, as of version 0.99.5
